KEEPING THE FAITH
Junior confirmands in Dalby, Denmark

Junior confirmands in Dalby on the island of Fuen (Denmark)

In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark children are (normally) confirmed at the age of 14 to 15. Prior to confirmation they follow a half-year preparation course organized by their local pastor.

The pastors Marianne and Mogens Nørsøller were among those who realized that at this age it was too late to start to talk about faith and God; there was a need to start much earlier.

About 10 years ago Marianne and Mogens started the first junior confirmand course for 9-10 year-olds. Today, this is common in most Danish congregations.
